Phishing Alert - December 14, 2005

Fraudulent email attacks, known as Phishing (defined), have been dramatically increasing in frequency over the last several weeks.

Western has identified more than one fraudulent email bearing the Western name and logo. The linked websites look nearly identical to the Western website and use domain names (website addresses) that are very similar to Western's. For example, the domain names used in these attacks include but are not limited to the following:

  • westernfcu.com
  • westernfcu.net
  • westernfcs.com
  • westerncu.net

The following links show examples of some Phishing attempts reported to Western.

Do not respond to any emails requesting personal or account information.

Western's Email Policy

  • From time to time Western may contact you by email, however we do not send emails requesting members to update their account information.
  • Western does not request personal information via email unless the communication was first initiated by a member request.
  • Western highly recommends that the provision of any personal information be made via our secure online form (https://www.western.org/applications/email.htm) or by contacting our Call Center directly at 877-254-9328, option 4.
