Courtesy Pay - Wire Transfers - Notary Services - Safe Deposit Boxes

You're Covered With Courtesy Pay

It can happen to anyone. You make an honest mistake in your checkbook or with your Debit or ATM Card, and suddenly you realize you don't have sufficient funds to cover all your outstanding checks, debit or point of sale transactions. With Western's Courtesy Pay program, however, you can avoid some of the expense, hassle and embarrassment of an inadvertent overdraft.

With Courtesy Pay, your Credit Union provides you with a pre-approved overdraft privilege of up to $750 for your checking account. If you overdraw your account, we may pay your overdrawn checks, ACH debits, debit or point of sale transactions up to this $750 limit, including a $30 per-item fee.

With Courtesy Pay...

  • You will not pay merchant returned check fees
  • You will not pay collection agency fees for returned items
  • You avoid the embarrassment of items returned for insufficient funds
  • You have additional protection for your good credit

To get Courtesy Pay protection, you don't need to do a thing - you're already covered if you have a Western Checking Account with overdraft protection. If you've already established overdraft protection methods, such as a Western Signature Line of Credit, we will always look to pay any overdraft via these methods first. Courtesy Pay is just an additional layer of protection for you.

If you do not want to be protected by Courtesy Pay, you may "opt-out" by completing a Courtesy Pay Opt-Out form and mailing it back to Western. Remember, Courtesy Pay costs you nothing unless we actually pay an overdraft check for you.

Please contact us for more information about Courtesy Pay, and find out about our other methods available for overdraft protection.

Your Western membership must be in good standing to qualify for the Courtesy Pay program. Courtesy Pay overdrafts must be repaid within 15 days. We reserve the right to discontinue Courtesy Pay privileges at any time. Using Courtesy Pay may be more costly than other overdraft methods we may offer.

Important Security information

To protect members' assets, security measures have been instituted to ensure wire transfer and other requests are legitimate. These measures, which include enhanced member identification**, may result in delays in processing wire transfer and other requests. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure our members' assets are protected and encourage members to monitor their accounts.

Please note: We recommend you contact the receiving party for the wiring instructions. All domestic wire transfers received after 12:00 pm (PT), and international wire transfers received after 10:00 am (PT), will be processed the next business day. A $15 fee applies for domestic wire transfers and a $35 fee applies for international wire transfers.

¹ If wiring to a title company, be sure to provide a reference number, such as an escrow or file number. If wiring to an investment company, be sure to include the name and account number with your investment company and any other pertinent information regarding your investment.

** The enhanced member identification may include calls to the existing phone numbers in our records. In some cases, a wire transfer may require a visit to a Western branch.
